"Own your own health" - a Nurse's story.

June 10, 2018

Hi.  My name's Gayle. I have been a member of IHG for nearly 7 years now.  I lost 16kg and have regained 4kg over that time  (menopause is horrendous isn't it?)

I am 62 years old and a nurse in the field of kidney dialysis.

The gym means many things to me.  It’s the place I exercise and keep strong and flexible.  It’s the place I maintain my overall health.  It’s the place I maintain my mental well-being and it’s a place I can meet friends and have a chat.

As a post-menopausal woman, IHG provides that extra support I need to maintain bone-density, mental health and cope with just the general issues of the aging process.

My personal goals for a meaningful and happy life include avoiding as many health issues as possible.  There is no doubt that exercise and maintaining a healthy weight is the best way to achieve this.  The all-body, strength training and aerobic fitness that IHG provides is perfect.  IHG’s no nonsense, non-judgmental, support and friendly approach is great.

I am not an exerciser by nature, in fact I am quite lazy, but the confronting and terrifying nature of the obesity crisis keeps me motivated!  Being a nurse in the dialysis field I am acutely aware of the poor health outcomes for obese people and the list grows everyday.  More and more people are suffering because of the poor choices they have made regarding diet and exercise.

IHG has something for every woman. Don’t  lose your quality of life to ill-health.  I didn't start at a gym until I was 55.  It's never too late.  I urge anyone who's overweight to just get started.  It’s easy.  Exercise and eat well.  IHG will support you!

Thank you to Sue and the team at IHG.
