when a Pro has a lightbulb moment.....

Nine weeks ago a post appeared on my Facebook news feed - "Nine Week Tribal Challenge at It’s Her Gym".

It caught my attention and my interest. I decided to go along to the information night to see what it was all about. It was a week before my 57th birthday. I was overweight, unhappy with how I looked and how I felt, and believed I could never change. 

 

I walked into a room full of women of all ages, shapes and sizes.

 

The mood in the room was happy, enthusiastic, and friendly, and it felt good. I listened to Sue explain the challenge, and I decided right there and then.

 

I can do this, I want to do this, and I did.

 

It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Not only have I begun losing weight (15kgs in 3 months) but I have met some amazing inspirational women, have learnt a lot about myself. Most of all I have had heaps of fun.

 

As a Psychologist of 30 years, I have helped 100's maybe 1,000's of people overcome barriers and challenges in their lives, but could not find a way to fight my own battle.

it's Her Gym has led me in the right direction, and I have begun a journey. I know I have a long way to go but I now have the belief that I can do it. 

 

This gym is like no other I have tried (and there have been many). It's not calorie counting. It's not about starving and denying yourself life's pleasures. There is no judgement. There is no criticism, and there are no mirrors (I love that).

 

It's all about taking control, being healthy and being able to live your life the way you want to. For me it's about being able to travel, and being able to see and do the things I want to. I don't want to be that overweight woman who can't climb the stairs, or who can't do that sightseeing walk. I want to do it all and I now believe I can.

 

I am looking forward to continuing my journey, and if you, like me, are wanting to change your life, be healthy, and live, then go and see the wonderful women at It’s Her Gym.

 

15kgs lost in 3 months, and 15 to go!

Sue says....

Judy was absolutely convinced of her ability to reach her Challenge goal of 10kgs (she lost 13!) - when I saw her move, I knew we had some work to do.  Her knees aren't good and she couldn't do a one-third range squat - let alone get up and down off the floor to do some exercises. We worked on compromises a lot.  Yesterday, I had a good laugh with Judy as she held a v-sit for 45 seconds, went straight into 7 kg overhead dumbell presses and finished with a set of loaded squats. She does 4 workouts a week and stuck to our Idiot Proof Diet for the first 12 weeks with us.  She's found her boundaries and now trusts herself to make smart food choices that not only help her to lose body fat but that make her feel mentally sharper as well.  Judy - the Tribe is better for having you in it. xx
